The Greenville Drive open their 20th season at Flour Field on Thursday evening with a roster that pitching coach [Name] calls the most talented he’s managed in the minors — three Houston Astros top-100 prospects, a rebuilt bullpen, and a lineup built around speed and contact.

The Drive, the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, finished third in the Southern League last season with a 72-66 record, falling to Biloxi in the first round of the playoffs. Front office leadership says the 2026 roster is a meaningful step forward.

“The talent level coming through the Astros system right now is exceptional,” said team president [Name]. “Greenville fans are going to watch some special players this year.”

Roster Highlights

The headliner is outfielder [Prospect Name], a 21-year-old rated among the top 30 prospects in baseball by multiple outlets. He batted .318 with 22 home runs at High-A last season and is widely projected to reach Houston by next summer.

The rotation includes two arms the Astros are developing with long-term starting roles in mind. Right-hander [Name] was drafted in the first round in 2024 and struck out 132 batters in 98 innings at Single-A last year.

“We’ve been telling people for a couple of years that the Astros pipeline was being rebuilt quietly. This roster is the first time you can really see it.” — [Scout Name], Baseball America

Flour Field Updates

The Drive have completed a $2.1 million off-season renovation at Flour Field, including expanded club-level seating along the first-base line, an upgraded sound system, and a new left-field berm with terraced grass seating. The West End stadium, which opened in 2006 and holds 5,700, remains one of the better-regarded minor league venues in the South Atlantic.

A new local food vendor section behind home plate features four Upstate South Carolina businesses, including a barbecue pit operator from Fountain Inn and a craft brewery from downtown Greenville.
